Staff/Pastor-Parish Relations Committee
The Staff/Pastor-Parish Relations Committee is the administrative unit in a
church where staff and congregational interests come together to focus on the
mission of the church. The S/PPRC's focus is to build relationships among
members of the congregation and the staff that are most effective for
accomplishing the mission and purpose of the church.
N.O.W. Ministries
Nurture Team
Team Leader: Patrice Matthews
Nurture is the “N” in N.O.W. Ministries of Scottsville UMC. The team consists of several sub-teams including: Worship, Christian Formation and Membership Care.
The Worship team, as its name implies, is responsible for anything that goes on in weekly worship service and any special worship services throughout the year. They also host the annual “Hanging of the Greens” with its covered dish supper.
The Christian Formation team oversees the Sunday School, encourages lay people to lead bible studies throughout the year, and supports the efforts of the VBS team.
The Membership Care team serves several functions in the church. Communion Stewards/Visitation teams visit with many of the homebound church family members. They are trained to share communion with those they are visiting. Fun/Fellowship team formulates the Hospitality Ministry schedule, hosts events throughout the year including Game Night in January, Moneyless Methodist Bingo in March, the Church Picnic (usually held in May or June), and other events that bring the congregation and/or visitors together.
Nurture meetings are open to the entire congregation and are held on the 1st Wednesday of Jan, Mar, May, July, Sep, and Nov, 2010 at 7 p.m.
