“Our Goals”
To the members and friends of Scottsville United Methodist Church, I
bring you greetings of joy and peace in the name of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ, the Almighty God, and the Holy Spirit, who is always with
us.
Our Administrative Council has formally adopted goals for the time frame
of 2010-2013. The purpose of goal-setting is to help keep the eyes and
hopes of the church focused on the future. Also, it helps us to better
understand where to direct our time and resources. Ultimately, goals
help the church from becoming stagnant. Each year, the Administrative
Council will evaluate the status of each of these goals in order to
refine and possibly adopt additional goals.
Our goals are:
1)
To conduct a congregational gifts inventory to determine
gifts and talents of church members.
2)
To keep the church’s website updated on a more frequent
basis.
3)
Make it known to local high schools that our church is
open as an opportunity for students needing a task for a senior project.
4)
Post in a prominent church location the names of each
church committee along with a job description of that committee.
5)
To enhance the Good Friday service with a play of some
sort.
6)
To start a 5:00PM worship service on Christmas Eve.
(Current services would remain.)
7)
To start a 5:00PM church service on Saturday evening with
upbeat music. (Current Sunday services would remain.)
8)
Establishment of a United Methodist Men’s group.
9)
Implement something for the 20-30 year-old age group.
10)
Reemploy the weekly sign-in pew booklets to track church
attendance.
Some of these goals have already been achieved. Others are being worked
on by one of our church committees (teams). These are exciting goals.
I congratulate the Administrative Council for adopting them. They will
empower the Scottsville Church to move into the future with hope and
confidence.
See you in church.
Peace,
Dennis Keen, Pastor
